PANEL INVITE:
Bullying in Disguise:Understanding How Microaggressions Impact Asian Americans & Our Youth
Tuesday, October 27th, 2015 6-8 PM // Venue TBD
Where are you really from?"
"You speak good English."
"Go back to your country!"
Today, Asian Americans are more often subject to racial microaggressions than the outright violence of the 1980s and 1990s. These subtle forms of discrimination are far from harmless; they can negatively impact mental health. From students to working-age professionals, Asian Americans experience treatment that remind them they are “perpetual foreigners” – a perception that can also shape their academic and professional careers.
JOIN US!
On October 27, join the Asian American Federation and a panel of Asian American experts who will discuss what microaggressions are, how they impact Asian American youth and professionals, and what can be done to address these everyday occurrences that have far-reaching consequences.
