MOCA is proud to host the 10th Annual Hate Crime Prevention Art Exhibit organized by Organization of Chinese Americans - New York Chapter (OCA-NY).
This multicultural project recognizes the relevance of hate crimes today, and empowers ethnically diverse high school interns from local youth groups to use art as a tool to educate and combat hate crimes. The knowledge gained during the Project culminates in a hate crimes prevention art contest, with prizes totaling $1500, for high school students citywide to compete in. This year’s theme is “Break the Fear of Differences: Build __________.” Submissions due by August 7th. We urge high school students to submit artwork to see their “artivism” displayed in in a real museum!
The grand opening of the art exhibit will be on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at MOCA from 5:30- 9:00 PM. We invite others to attend as well, so that we can celebrate talent and diversity together. The exhibition will run from August 11 - 22, 2016.
